History

This Team Lotus ’64 Ford Lotus Cortina, BJH 417B, was driven by legendary F1 champion Jim Clark.

Launched in 1963, the Lotus Cortina featured the Lotus Elan's Ford-based, DOHC, 1.6-litre engine in the two-door Cortina bodyshell.  The Lotus Cortina dominated saloon racing's 2-litre class, often challenging for outright honours.  Team Lotus works cars were driven by Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Peter Arundell, and Jackie Ickx.

In 1964, Clark secured the British Touring Car Championship crown, and the next year the squad took European, Belgian and New Zealand titles, too.  The Ford Lotus Cortina also scored victories on the British RAC and Greek Acropolis rallies.

This car fetched a world record £136,800 at auction in 2007.
